Coupon cannot be combined with any other Coupon) As usual, the news that we will get a "Game of Thrones" spinoff, written by Emmy winner Dan Weiss, will likely have many viewers scrambling to find it on their TV, DVD or Blu-ray player. This week, however, I heard an interesting and slightly alarming rumor, that "GOT" may be making a comeback to the big screen. A number of publications I am following are reporting that Fox is looking at how to turn "GOT" into a movie, in way that does not ruin George R.R. Martin's original vision. So, if "GOT" gets the big screen treatment, how will it compare to the book? The first thing that I should clarify, is Martin not making the movie and we have nothing to do with that. (And I really, really hope we don't, if it is even considered at all.) But Martin has said that he would like the movie version of his book to be faithful original vision. So, this is potentially worth checking out. So, how would a "Game of Thrones" movie that matches Martin's original vision measure up against the book, as written, according to Martin? I have admit that haven't really been able to think of a way do so. If it's done really well, it could be worth checking out, but then it would also be a ton of money. But, we've never seen an adaptation of a book as big and epic "Game of Thrones". Not only would it be expensive, but will also have to be shot at a much higher level than even Martin has reached in his books. There are a number of movies that have been made of Martin's books, but they're the exceptions, and very expensive ones at that. In comparison, Martin's adaptation of "The Winds Winter" is going to be the same budget as a normal movie, while still being incredibly epic and in scope. In my view, I think a movie adaptation can be done relatively cheaply, but not cheaply and correctly. I don't know how much time Martin has, but in the best-case scenario, I think it could easily be done in a couple of years. It should be good, but still won't the movie "Game of Thrones" needs to be. And, I hope Martin does some sort of prequel to his story, a bit like the "Song of Ice and Fire" prequel in the beginning. But, I don't know if that will be a good idea or not. As for a movie being made, who will win? That's a hard question, since it's impossible to say. On one hand, the fans would love it, and that will be hard to argue against. And as noted above, this franchise, which has changed over the years many times, would probably benefit from a big reboot, which would also benefit the TV series. As for the cost, I don't know who would want to pay that kind of money, but if it is done correctly, can be with a lot of money! And as pointed out above, "Game of Thrones" would actually benefit from a reboot. It would be much easier to make a new TV show, and there would actually be new material available for the spinoff. At the end of day, I really don't know where these rumors are coming from and whether they have legs or are more hype than substance. The only way to know is follow the news, see if it keeps.
